Abhay Ji started his rendition with a beautiful late evening melody, Raga Nandkauns. It covered alap, jod and then chand adharit. Raga Nandkauns is a blend of raga Jog and raga Malkauns. Abhay Ji, sang along with Santoor which was a very fine experience. As the rendition entered chand adharit, pathwaj joined and it was an energy filled performance meeting sum several times making audience clap in appreciation.
Raga Bhajaneshwari, is a raga composed by Abhay ji in memory of his father Bhajan Sopori. He said it may remind you of several Ragas but it is a unique raga in itself. Abhay ji presented it in Jap Taal. It was a very melodious raga.
Besides the above Raga, Abhay ji has composed three more Ragas, Komal Kauns, Raga Kali and Raga Saraswati. Abhay ji expressed that these ragas come to him naturally and he does sort of take efforts to compose them.
Abhay ji read out a Bandish written by him in memory of his father Bhajan Sopori and presented it in Ek Taal.
On request of audience, Abhay ji decided to render a Kashmiri Wakh, which is connected with Shaivism of Kashmir. It was in Kashmiri and sounded very warm and melodious. Abhay ji received a standing ovation from a huge audience.
