Recital started with Raga Madhuvanti. Rajat Kulkarni is a young and budding artist from Kittur near Belagavi in Karnataka. Rajat ji thanked Shrinivas Joshi and Shipa Joshi for the opportunity. It was a blazing performance. It is very heartening to know that very young artiste are coming to fore and performing this great art, taking forward this ancient art form, without dropping the batten.
Rajat ji decided to present a Kannada Bhajan, Sheeneevasa…., inspired by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. Getting a request to sing one more piece from a critical audience of Pune’s Sawai Gandharva is very rare. Rajat ji was bestowed with this request by the audience. He decided to present an Abhanga, Savalee sundar roop manohar… The performance was appreciated by the entire audience. It was a thundering performance for his young age.
Rajat Kulkarni was remembered and invited by Mrs. Shilpa Joshi (wife of Shrinivas Joshi, Pt. Bhimsen ji’s Son) based on a recital presented by him 9 years ago. Program compare. It is said that if audiences of Sawai Gandharv appreciate an Artiste at this age, it means the Artiste has a wonderful possibility to reach the apex in his art form
